EDDIE. Penzance. July 26th.

Rescues 2016Posted by Blog Admin Sat, January 28, 2017 13:15:26
Eddie The Eagle had crash landed into an enclosed courtyard at Penzance when he fell from a retaining wall. He came into care as he had a nasty gouge on the forehead and with no exits or natural food in the yard had no means to survive there. The area above the wall was checked for any other hogs but none were found. The area was a No Mans Land, which had been roughly cleared of the trees trying to grow there, apparently they were blocking the residents view of the harbour. Sad that manmade structures are deemed more scenic than an oasis of green for the birds, also leaving it unsafe to return Eddie there after he recovered. The wound was deep and it took a month to heal by which time Eddie was showing signs of a fungal infection and needed further treatment to clear it. Eventually he had the all clear and was then released into a hedgehog friendly garden in October.
